Harbour Arch to transform Cape Town CBD
Premier urban lifestyle developers The Amdec Group, have unveiled a major new mixed-use development, which is set to transform the Cape Town Foreshore and bring with it much needed jobs.
Situated at the confluence of the N1 and N2, within close proximity to the vibrant Cape Town CBD, Harbour Arch will encompass street level motor dealerships, lifestyle and convenience retail, boutique office space, upmarket residential apartments, and two Marriott branded hotels.
Built on a 5.8-hectare site, with 200 000m2 of usable space, Harbour Arch will ultimately comprise six individual towers located above a landscaped pedestrian walkway running the entire length of the precinct.
Positioned as a new gateway to the CBD, the development will be valued around R10-billion on completion.
Harbour Arch is also expected to create significant job opportunities. The first phase of the development alone is expected to create around 2 500 construction jobs. Meanwhile, the two Marriott branded hotels will secure approximately 350 permanent jobs, with additional opportunities in the various retail spaces.
Modelled on Johannesburg’s iconic and award-winning Melrose Arch, also developed by the Amdec Group, the Harbour Arch site will embrace the principles of new urban design – community, sociability, safety and security, convenience, accessibility, sustainability, eco-efficiency.
Head of Development at Amdec Property Developments, Nicholas Stopforth says, “New Urban Architecture has become a global phenomenon – where you live, work, play, relax, and stay in a safe, convenient, sustainable and community-focused environment. As with Melrose Arch, we are using international best practice to design these new urban spaces that will redefine city living.”
James Wilson, Chief Executive Officer for the Amdec Group explains, “It’s geared to allow for pedestrian traffic at all hours of day and night, and offers residents accommodation together with other lifestyle elements, all in the same location such as shops, gyms, restaurants and cocktail bars, with a huge emphasis on security.”
Easily accessible by both public and private transport, the development will include green landscaped public spaces, cosmopolitan streetscapes, open-air squares, pedestrian-friendly walkways, and carefully articulated indoor/outdoor spaces.
Bringing the whole development together is an eighth-floor “Central Park” – an interlinked podium level that will be tenanted by restaurants, coffee shops, cocktail bars, gyms, as well as convenience retail and lifestyle outlets.
Harbour Arch’s initial development phase – No 1 Harbour Arch – will comprise 432 apartments, two motor dealerships, retail, leisure, and commercial office space.
In addition to a residents-only pool, exercise area, and terrace all located on the 17th floor, the building will also feature a roof garden and viewing deck on the 24th floor. Harbour Arch residents can expect to enjoy Fibre to the Home, waste recycling, water-saving facilities and rainwater harvesting, a centralised district cooling plant, and low-energy LED lighting.
The development will include well-managed and maintained infrastructure, as well as extensive parking facilities. If you’d like to buy at Harbour Arch, click the link below
